Description
Responsibilities include the following:Designing and detailing complex optomechanical instruments, covering everything from component design to the development of motion systems, precision lens positioning, active and passive alignment, design for manufacturability (DFM), design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), reliability, and shipping, etc.Design and develop test fixtures, jigs, mounting brackets, alignments systems, etc.Prepare production drawing and effectively communicate with potential manufacturing vendor.Driving design reviews, participate in design validation and characterization during product design, prototyping and deployment.Drive failure analysis and design of experiments (DOEs) to reach design solutions and corrective actions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with 3D CAD Tools: Unigraphics NX (preference), SolidWorks, ProEngineer, etc.
- Deep understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and optomechanical design.
- Experience in design and implementation of basic test apparatus
- Experience in GD&T (Geometry, Dimensioning and Tolerancing), alignment datum set up, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems.
- Ability to communicate well with cross-functional and cross company team members and be able to efficiently collaborate to achieve project goals.
- Hands on experience with prototype assembly and testing
- Experience with precision motion stages, optical mounting techniques, kinematic constraints, etc.
- BSME required
- 8+ years of experience in a relevant industry.
