Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and articulate a clear, compelling vision and strategy focused on enhancing PayPal's marketing strategy and brand identity that inspires others
  • Oversee and direct the development of creative strategies, content programs and campaigns with direct impact on PayPal revenue, expense, budget, and growth
  • Negotiate with and influence the decision-making of senior internal and external executives and decision-makers
  • Create operational and strategic objectives and plans for fostering brand loyalty using domain knowledge and extensive expertise
  • Provide guidance to critical cross-functional and cross-organizational teams focused on business transformation across PayPal
  • Identify and resolve strategic problems or issues by developing new or innovative solutions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Brand Strategy & Identity Leadership
  • Lead the development and global implementation of PayPal’s brand strategy—rooted in customer insight, competitive positioning, and company vision.

  • Own and evolve the brand’s core elements: voice, tone, behavior, narrative, naming, architecture, and design systems—ensuring alignment across geographies, channels, and audiences.

  • Drive brand governance and brand architecture across PayPal’s product and services portfolio, balancing consistency with local and cultural relevance.

Creative Leadership & Brand Expression
  • Set the creative vision and define the bar for excellence in PayPal’s brand storytelling, advertising, and communications.

  • Inspire internal and external creative teams to deliver bold, emotionally resonant work across integrated campaigns, content, and experiences.

  • Champion the use of design, language, and digital innovation to bring the brand to life across every customer interaction.

Integrated Campaign Development
  • Architect and launch cross-functional, insight-led global campaigns that drive measurable brand and business outcomes.

  • Ensure brand marketing and product marketing are seamlessly aligned, with cohesive narratives spanning paid, owned, earned, and in-product channels.

  • Optimize go-to-market strategies in collaboration with media, performance marketing, and regional teams.

Cross-Functional Brand Stewardship
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Communications, Customer Experience, and Executive Leadership to embed brand thinking across the organization.

  • Guide consistent implementation of brand voice and standards across web, app, CRM, service, and partner experiences.

Consumer Insight & Brand Performance
  • Leverage brand health metrics, market research, and cultural intelligence to identify new opportunities and guide strategic decision-making.

  • Develop and present actionable performance insights to executive leadership; iterate creative strategies based on results.

Team Leadership & Culture Building
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing global brand and creative team—cultivating a culture of creativity, curiosity, innovation, and accountability.

  • Promote creative experimentation and continuous improvement, supported by strong operational rigor.

Innovation & Future-Forward Thinking
  • Bring a forward-looking perspective to brand building, actively exploring emerging platforms, AI technologies, and digital tools to scale creative impact.

  • Identify ways to leverage AI to increase creative effectiveness, enhance storytelling, and streamline workflows.

Qualifications
  • 14+ years of progressive experience in global brand strategy, marketing, and creative leadership within high-growth or Fortune 500 organizations.

  • 7+ years in senior leadership roles managing multidisciplinary brand, design, and creative teams.

  • Demonstrated success driving brand transformation and leading large-scale global brand campaigns with quantifiable impact.

  • Expertise in brand positioning, narrative development, identity systems, tone of voice, and integrated marketing strategy.

  • Strong executive presence and influence, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders and present confidently at the C-level.

  • Deep understanding of consumer research, brand health tracking, and campaign analytics.

  • Passion for creativity, innovation, and culture—with a demonstrated ability to leverage AI and emerging technology to elevate brand effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Experience in fintech, technology, lifestyle, or other consumer-driven global industries strongly preferred.

The US national annual pay range for this role is $188,000 to $323,950
