The Role:
As a Battery System Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, and design innovative consumer product. You will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary team, and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition and execution. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. In this role, you will:- Design and verify Li-ion battery system per performance and safety requirements
- Validate battery management systems including protection ICs, Chargers, and Fuel gauge
- Drive battery development for NPI programs
- Execute battery safety and reliability tests
- Investigate and identify next generation energy storage devices, including battery and capacitor
- Create battery specifications- Test and qualify new battery packs and second source battery packs
- Support factory and field issues related to battery. Conduct failure analysis on RMA batteries
- Work with Compliance on battery certification including CTIA/IEEE172

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
- Bachelor’s degree with EE technical focus or equivalent
- 5+ years experience in HW validation/test
- Experience with Li-Polymer battery validation
- Familiarity with electronic test equipment (multimeters, power supplies, loads, oscilloscopes, data acquisition units)
- Familiarity with Python, Matlab or other programming / scripting language


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science
- 7+ years of experience with battery or battery-powered product validation
- Experience with testing and qualifying battery packs
- Understanding of basic circuit design
- Familiarity with communication protocols – SPI, UART, I2C, Ethernet
- Familiarity with Android / ADB / Linux
- Familiarity with FW charge control architectures
