The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

This position will be supporting Consumer Business Group as a Product Engineer for the Home Build and Repair business within Home Improvement. As an Advanced Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Implement programs to improve quality, reduce cost, and support new NPI programs for Spray Adhesives, Wall repair, Abrasives and Auto retail products.
  • Verify and document product specifications for new and existing products
  • Conduct product claims testing and document test results via claim substantiation process
  • Interact closely with key internal and external manufacturers and suppliers to deliver high-quality retail products

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • One (1) year of manufacturing and/or laboratory experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Current, valid Driver’s License.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Materials Science or Chemistry from an accredited institution
  • One (1) year of experience in adhesive manufacturing or laboratory setting
  • Demonstrated success in effectively leading and contributing to cross functional teams.
  • Strong communication, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute product verification/claim substantiation test plans, develop & validate test methods and properly document test results
  • Demonstrated proficiency in design of experiments and other statistical methods

Work location:

  • Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require on-site at least 4 days per week in Maplewood)
