  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to and that customer requirements are understood and executed on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Drive key improvement initiatives to develop best practices and provide performance improvement against established targets / KPI’s.
  • Particular emphasis will be on ensuring the shift operates in compliance with all Health & Safety and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion company policies.
  • Collaborate across Distribution Center departments to plan and share resources to ensure customer and business objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities (Functional):

  • Plan and schedule the resources required to process the projected shift workload.
  • Ensure that all required processes are completed on a timely basis, such that daily business goals and any special project requirements are met.
  • Interact with department managers and other shift managers and supervisors as needed to ensure that communication is timely and relevant and the flow of information between departments meets the needs of both shifts.
  • Communicate effectively as needed with the supply chain departments of our customers to obtain any required routing information and resolve any shipping related issues that occur.
  • Maintain current SOP’s and all required documentation in a well-organized, easily accessed manner.
  • Manage the collection, reporting and required feedback regarding labour management standards.
  • Ensure all department supervisors and employees are properly trained to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure shift employees are cross trained in different areas of DC operations (working within any existing company policies governing this area of staff training).
  • Ensure the company’s inventory control processes are followed, including ensuring the shift participates regularly in cycle counting.
  • Maintain all Occupational Health & Safety Act safety standards, including all reporting of accidents, injuries, damages and potential threats to safety.
  • Maintain all company Diversity, Equity and Inclusion standards, including all reporting all incidents that may require application of the company’s Corrective Action Matrix.
  • Document and review with the Director, DC Operations and the onsite HR Manager any employee performance problems for possible disciplinary action.
  • Other duties as required and directed by the Director, DC Operations .

  • Distribution: DC Inbound & Outbound, DC Shift Managers, Inventory Control, Reporting & Analytics, Project Management, LEAN, Compliance, Continuous Improvement
  • HR, Facilities and Health and Safety

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent knowledgeof DC operations, including storage methods and material flow.
  • Procedural awareness and the ability to coordinate the efforts of multiple work streams into a single output.
  • Working knowledge of the requirements for the safe operation of a variety of mobile equipment.
  • Excel, Outlook, Word and working knowledge of WMS principles.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivational ability.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both verbally and written.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both on an individual level with team members and across departments within an organization.
  • An aptitude for leadership and the willingness to develop this skill through mentoring and coaching.

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Supervisory or management experience of 5 or more years within a large-scale distribution centre.
  • University or college degree, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent skills developed through work experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written
