What you need to know about the role:

As a Seniorin the team, you will be leveraging your extensive technical expertise and practical experience in AI/ML to lead substantive discussions with technical and data science teams, guiding them through the intricacies of functional definition, architecture, solution implementation, and integration within complex environments and mentoring of junior engineers. You will be responsible for developing industry-leading experiences that bring unquestionable value to both merchants and buyers. You will use your years of technical expertise and a solid understanding of the business domain to help us improve the scale, reliability, and performance of our platforms.
Your day-to-day:

• Design and deploy scalable generative AI solutions, Data Analysis based decision making, productize ML models that enhance PayPal's ability to provide a seamless customer experience
• Design and deploy scalable generative AI solutions as part of the ecosystem.
• Lead architectural discussions and contribute to overall technical direction, advocating for best practices and innovative solutions.
• Optimize software performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks via monitoring, logging, and metrics to enhance the user experience.
• Act as a strong advocate for clean and scalable principles and practices in all areas, including coding, documentation, automation, etc.
• Be a champion of high-performing, secure, and reliable software services
• Identify critical non-functional requirements for the work your team prioritizes (Availability, Security, Performance, Scalability, and Observability), and implement them with your team.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with all technical and non-technical partners and stakeholders (Architecture, Developer Experience, Product, Design, Analytics, Legal, Marketing, etc.)
• Communicate frequently with your team to ensure shared understanding around the new products and features under consideration.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and promoting a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
• Understand and apply our technical architecture to ensure consistent, reliable, and secure deployments.
• Enhance and maintain existing product capabilities as required.
• Bring fresh ideas for continuously improving our software and your team.
• Advocate for ways to avoid and remediate technical debt continuously.
• Participate in program planning, influencing the product and technology roadmap and driving outcomes.

What you need to bring:

• 7+ Years of experience
• Masters / bachelor’s in computer science, Computer engineering, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Information Systems, or related disciplines, with technical expertise in one or more of the above-mentioned areas or equivalent practical experience.
• Expertise in advanced analytical and statistical techniques to identify trends, issues, and opportunities
• Strong proficiency in machine learning concepts, algorithms, and techniques, with hands-on experience in developing and deploying machine learning models.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI/ML technology and industry trends, and leverage this knowledge to build enhanced capabilities.
• Expert in multipleProgramming/scriptinglanguages, i.e. Unix/Linux Shell Scripting, Python, Java, Scala.
• Expertise in Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, HBase, Kafka.
• Expertise in SQL, Excel, and visualization tools such as Tableau or Quickview.
• Good understanding of distributed systems, data streaming, complex event Processing, NoSQL solutions for creating and managing data integration pipelines for batch and Real Time data needs.
• Expertise in machine learning libraries/frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Experience in AWS is a plus
