Team/BU Description:
Join our dynamic team of developers, where you'll work alongside four other developers, specifically focusing on the backend and agent components of Netreo products. Your responsibilities will include implementing new features, fixing bugs, and conducting peer code reviews. We follow a Scrum framework with daily stand-ups and two-week sprint cycles. Additionally, you will collaborate with our backend data ingestion and processing team and assist in end-to-end platform testing.
Job Description:
Netreo, a BMC company, seeks an experienced software developer to implement the core processing code for our acclaimed cloud and on-premises monitoring application. You will contribute to the development of our platform's core ingestion and analytics components, data processing, and supporting services. Your code will source observability data from a variety of technologies, including networking equipment, servers, infrastructure services, and database engines. You'll construct services that transform, store, and query data, making it available to our application layer and APIs as needed.
Basic Requirement:
- Expertise in a Linux development environment
- Strong experience with Perl, MySQL, and Python
- Experience with NoSQL and other databases
- Experience with legacy codebases and integrating modern technologies with legacy systems
- Proficient in safe refactoring and development testing (unit/integration/component behavior) that is scalable and maintainable
- Experience working with remote, geographically distributed teams
- Experience working in small developer teams
Mandatory Skills:
- 7+ years of experience with Python with Perl and MySQL
- 5+ years of expertise in a Linux development environment
- 5+ years of experience with REST APIs
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, service meshes, NGINX, Vault, Kafka, and Redis
- Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies or languages (e.g., Rust, Golang, Pulsar, Telegraf, GraphQL)
- Strong experience with both backend and frontend development (full stack engineering)
- Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) including EC2, S3, API Gateway, and serverless computing
- Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
Nice to Have:
- Experience with monitoring products and standards:
- Cloud APIs (e.g., CloudWatch, Azure Graph API)
- IT Vendor monitoring APIs and SDKs
- PowerShell and/or WMI
- SNMP
- NetFlow/IPFIX
