Essential Duties & Responsibilites

You will work as a postdoc part of a small research team exploring novel magnetic device for non-traditional compute architectures, such as analog vector-matrix-multiplication and probabilistic computing. You will be responsible for the electrical characterization and performance evaluation of devices created in our research cleanroom for these applications. The work will include establishing the testing set up, defining testing procedures, & writing test scripts. You will work closely with other team members to drive decisions on device material improvements and project directions. The work will include designing experimental splits, carrying out electrical measurements, analyzing data, and determining actionable conclusions from the studies.

Required:

• Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, or related field and 2+ years professional experience
• Extensive programming and scripting experience
• Proven ability to initiate and complete scientific studies
• History of publications in peer reviewed journals

Skills:

• Strong electrical measurement, data analysis, and device physics skills
• Good collaboration and presentation skills

• The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
• You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance. Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan.
