This job implements tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), follows internal conventions and procedures, makes technical decisions, collaborates with peers and project leads, and contributes to code and design reviews.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Implements tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), receiving structure and oversight from more experienced staff
  • Follows well-established internal conventions and standard procedures
  • Understands internal standards & processes an applies them to make technical decisions
  • Collaborates with peers, manager, and project lead to gain understanding of tasks and review solutions
  • May contribute to code & design reviews

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Build and enhance experimentation platform features.
  • Own features end-to-end, from requirements analysis and implementation to testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Product, Data Science, ML, and Business Tech) to deliver experimentation capabilities aligned with PayPal’s needs.
  • Contribute to scaling experimentation across PayPal’s ecosystem, including mobile apps, web flows, and backend services.
  • Participate in system design discussions, ensuring solutions balance scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot platform issues and proactively identify opportunities to improve resiliency and developer experience.
  • Engage in code and design reviews, upholding high standards of engineering rigor and technical quality.
  • Continuously learn and apply new technologies, contributing ideas to improve experimentation velocity and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience, ideally in large-scale distributed systems or data-intensive platforms.
  • Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages (Java, Python, or similar), with strong debugging and performance optimization skills.
  • Familiarity with experimentation platforms, measurement systems, or A/B testing frameworks.
  • Experience with data pipelines, streaming/messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, Flink, Spark), or real-time analytics.
  • Understanding of cloud-native systems, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance velocity, quality, and scalability trade-offs.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for experimentation, data-driven decision-making, and enabling developers at enterprise scale.

The US national annual pay range for this role is $100,500 to $173,250
