Your impact

As an Odor Control Engineer at Jacobs, you’ll be at the cutting edge of our efforts to bring innovation and excellence to some of the most exciting infrastructure projects in the Northwest region. You’ll leverage your engineering background and design experience to lead the planning and design of odor control systems for wastewater projects. In addition, you will perform odor studies, develop odor control masterplans, and perform field investigations consisting of air sampling, liquid sampling, and existing equipment assessment. Responsibilities include developing construction documentation such as design drawings, specifications, subcontracts, and equipment requisition requirements.

You’ll also have the opportunity to:

- Prepare technical memorandums and basis of design reports.

- Develop clear and comprehensive calculations in Microsoft Excel, including fan and equipment sizing, static pressure calculations, ventilation calculations, odor removal calculations, and life-cycle cost analyses.

- Manage and coordinate work with engineers and technicians of other disciplines and architects.

- Support field staff during construction phase of projects, including responding to submittal reviews and requests for information.

- Provide design guidance and mentorship to designers/drafters and less experienced engineers.

Here's what you'll need

- BS or MS graduate of an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution.

- Thorough knowledge of odor control, including vapor phase treatment technologies, liquid phase treatment technologies, and odor control standards and approaches.

- Thorough knowledge of coordination requirements of odor control systems with other project disciplines (e.g., structural, electrical, instrumentation and control, etc).

- 5-10 years of demonstrated work experience. Background in consulting or municipal water / wastewater and / or public works field of engineering is preferred.

- Professional Engineers License (PE) or ability to obtain immediately upon hire.

- Willingness to learn new skills and practices as needed.
