Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
Working as a Senior Industrial Engineer in adidas, you will work alongside a team of engineers to identify and drive improvement opportunities in multiple Distribution Centre’s (DC) across the adidas network. Industry wide knowledge of manual and automated distribution centers would be a requirement in this role as well as an understanding of current trends within these fields.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as an outside consultant to warehouse operations by acting as a change agent for the business
- Manage and/or conduct feasibility studies of various projects to determine the value of an investment and provide an economic justification for Business Cases.
- Make recommendations for investment in new technologies and improvement of efficiency within the warehouse workflow, including warehouse decision making capabilities, workplace safety, and customer service standards
- Evaluate Labour Management systems including implementation, configuration, analysis of results and development of recommendations to the DC heads
- Responsible for leading MHE work streams in capital projects from conception to final acceptance
- Responsible for managing or running cost analysis relating to operational, technological, or labour cost.
- Identify and evaluate problems and develop improvements to processes, layouts, internal flows, utilization, packaging material usage and methods of operation within a warehouse environment, making fact based recommendations to the lean organization.
Key Relationships:
- Internal – Distribution Center management (Inc. Lean Ambassadors) and Global Operations departments.
- External - Outside vendors as appropriate
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Proven ability to utilize recognized industrial engineering techniques effectively to produce tangible results
- Broad and deep knowledge of engineering and distribution operations combining theoretical and practical knowledge
- Contribute significantly to the achievement of department and/or project targets
- Proven ability to lead teams through direct reporting relationship, but also through matrix relationships
- Make day to day decisions for the engineering department in a complex business environment
- Strong ability to identify, evaluate, and develop project solutions and recommendations
- Strong project management and organization skills
- Work is independent but requires collaboration across multiple departments
- Advanced ability to analyze complex processes and drive positive change
- Labour management experience, ideally with Manhattan based application
- Focus on development and implementation of standardizing DC processes, MHE (Material Handling Equipment) and supplier harmonization.
- As part of automated DCs, monitorSupervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) outputs as required.
- Strong analytical abilities.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with an ability to influence across all levels of management
- Thorough understanding of improvement tools as SIXSIGMA, Kaizen, 5S, time and motion studies
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally as needed.
- Strong MS-Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Access, etc.)
- Fluent in English/German, verbal and written communication
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate university degree, with a focus in Industrial Engineering or closely related field or relevant warehousing experiences
- 5 years engineering work experience, ideally in a distribution center environment
- 2 years’ management experience required
- Broad background in Industrial Engineering technology and applications
- Experience with AutoCAD is desirable
- Labour Management experience (Base and ELS standards) (MH based)
- Six Sigma Green belt preferred
