Category Development Manager
The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As Category Development Manager on the Consumer Health & Safety businesses you will be working to execute profitable sales and margin expansion on the Futuro™, Ace™, Nexcare™, and 3M Safety brand portfolios. You will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Drive category expertise with multiple cross-functional teams through a deep knowledge of product, competition, and key market trends for each identified category and region.
- Set category strategy with channel specific execution plans to drive growth with targeted
portfolios, programs, and campaigns. - Actively monitor trends and innovations relating to the focus categories and integrate those into plans to maintain relevance and stay competitive.
- Work cross-functionally to drive category (segment, portfolio, new product) strategies to
channel & shopper teams. You will be the voice of the area customer and portfolio needs
- Make data driven recommendations to drive growth - reporting on category metrics
important to the channel partners. Maintaining category playbooks and tools for all sales
teams. - Guide portfolio direction and execution for channel and account specific portfolios in key
channels and areas - Oversee development of category line review plans & JBP’s for targeted portfolios in
partnership with sales / shopper organization.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Five (5) years of marketing and/or sales experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Eight (8) years of marketing and/or sales experience in a private, public, government or military environment
- MBA
- USAC key account sales and/or analytical Experience
- Multiple retail channel experience – Home Centers, Club, Mass, Hardware, eCom, Pharmacy
- Good understanding of CBG USAC markets, competition and customers
- Creativity & problem solving in complex situations.
- Skilled in retail negotiations
- Analytical aptitude with strong ability to turn data insights into action, with effective storytelling
- Familiar with PowerBi tools and syndicated data reporting
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating and driving strategy with cross-functional stakeholders, as well as top customers and channels in USAC.
- Understanding of price management and financial acumen (Net Sales, MDF/Rebate, CIP, GM)
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Work location:
- Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN at least [3] days per week)
