DESCRIPTION

As a Sr Component Engineer at LAB126, you will be at the heart of the hardware design process. You will have the opportunity to apply your skills as part of a world-class team, working collaboratively with cross-functional groups to help bring some of the best-selling consumer electronics products to market.Key job responsibilities
• Review all requests for new components and assure that the parts can satisfy the existing design requirements.
• Establish and maintain specifications for custom and off-the-shelf components.
• Generate specifications for new custom parts.
• Read and understand electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and component data sheets. • Work within the parameters of PLM to coordinate component approval and EOL/Obsolete status.
• Interface with the ECAD team in the maintenance of Libraries and Databases.
• Coordinate failure analysis and root cause/corrective actions with internal and vendor teams. Experience in dealing with external labs.
• Work with cross-functional teams to source and suggest alternate parts. Teams will include SW Development, Operations Management, Materials Management, and Hardware Design Engineering.
• Participate in product design reviews.

As a Sr. Component Engineer, in a HW Development Role, you will support all phases of the hardware development process including support of a component selection strategy that ensures part availability throughout the product development process; detect and prevent component issues that would impact successful product launch. You will juggle priorities without losing sight of the customers, the project schedule and planned launch milestones. Forging collaboration between the engineering, operations, global commodity management groups & external AVLs to ensure that the component choices fit the goals and objectives of the design through production, sustaining, and obsolescence stages. The Sr. Component Engineer will assist in maintaining the databases by creating Engineering change orders, assigning part numbers, and maintaining part descriptions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or related field.
- 5+ year's experience in a similar role.
- Experienced with many types of components such as SoC’s, logic gates, memories, PMIC’s, MOSFET’s, diodes, resistors, inductors, capacitors, crystals, connectors and cable assemblies. Demonstrated competence in the usage of digital oscilloscopes, multi-meters, LCR meters, curve-tracers, and related component test equipment.
- Experienced with ROHS/WEEE requirements and current exemptions.
- BOM scrubbing with correct MPNs and lifecycles.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's or advanced degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Industrial engineering.
- Experienced with high volume manufacturing assembly and test lines. Experienced with Agile PLM or equivalent type product.
- Experienced with Schematic Editor & PCB layout tools such as Cadence Orcad (latest version) or equivalent type editor.
- Experienced interfacing with contract manufacturers & component manufacturers.
