About the Role

This organization is responsible for serving, ingesting, and indexing data within our feed, storefront, and application carousel experiences. We support multiple data retrieval methods from a high-scale MySQL database. We focus on inventing new and exciting ways to help customers find the products they want within our ever growing catalog which requires understanding the customer needs and building a highly performant backend to support these use cases.

- - - - What the Candidate Will Do ----

  1. Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable and innovative software solutions.
  2. Identify opportunities and lead the entire development lifecycle end-to-end, from architecture design and coding to testing and deployment.
  3. Conduct thorough code reviews, offering constructive feedback to maintain high code quality and elevate coding standards.
  4. Help the team understand what is important and what problems to focus on.
  5. Identify solutions to ambiguous problems and help the team reason through tradeoffs.
  6. Communicating with internal clients, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.

- - - - Basic Qualifications ----

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, with 5+ years of full-time engineering experience.
  2. Experience in hands-on software development with thoughtfulness of scale, latency and distributed architecture.
  3. Highly efficient coding in Golang, Java or any similar languages.
  4. Solid experience working with relational databases, MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar databases, on high concurrency environments.
  5. Working experience with Flink, Spark, and/or Kafka

  1. Solid systems design experience on high availability and low latency environments.
  2. Proven experience of shipping high-quality internal platforms.

For Canada-based roles: The base salary range for this role is CAD$164,000 per year - CAD$182,000 per year.

Bookbuilding Strategy & Execution

Data & Insights

  • Leverage SQL, Python, and BI tools to design scalable models and insights for segmentation, territory design, and headcount planning.
