Customer Success Manager (CSM) Responsibilities:

As a CSM within the SAP Academy for Customer Success, you will be responsible to:

  • Successfully complete a 10-month learning-apply program that enhances your support into the CSM role, a critical customer facing function within our dynamic Customer Success board area.
  • Immerse yourself in a multi-dimensional, experiential learning with a focus on digital transformation, global intelligence, human skills, business and technology acumen, solution/industry knowledge, and strategy/tools/process.
  • Learn how to drive value across the customer lifecycle through solution adoption and ongoing renewals that foster account expansion.
  • Receive onboarding in your local market with on-the-job training and mentoring by a senior CSM professional in the field. You will have the opportunity to work both behind the scenes and directly with customers.

’ll bring

  • 2-3 years’ work experience with a proven record of supporting customers and business transformation, preferably from consulting, sales and/or account management that include resolution and escalation management.
  • Role Specific Skills: customer value proposition, customer success management, technology solution adoption, customer engagement, relationship building.

There is a high likelihood a portion (4-6 weeks) of the program will be held in San Ramon, California in late Q3 of 2026. This decision will be made in Q1 2026.

What you'll do

Sales cycle

  • Build credibility / trust with customers.
  • Assist the SAP license sales and service sales teams in closing of software or services deals by providing oversight on implementation planning & estimating and coordinating multiple SAP Lines of Businesses and partners as required (Bid Management).

Delivery

  • Set-up and lead all phases of the project lifecycle, including planning, design, development, testing, implementation, documentation, training, and closure.
  • Work with Customer Stakeholders, Partners and SAP Management to effectively manage and lead projects to ensure successful completion and significant impact on customer business KPI.
  • During implementations, manage overall services relationship, steering committee and project office, between customer, partner and SAP to ensure that projects are delivered on-time, within budget and with the highest levels of customer satisfaction through billable consulting.
  • Manage expectations on the development of solid project plans, with milestones and clear deliverable (in IT and business terms), handling risks, issues and objections.
  • Select, direct and develop your team members in accordance with the project goals.

  • Oversees the customer engagement journey and ensures effective governance and alignment across multiple internal and external stakeholders such as SAP Services, SAP Product support, Partners and customer’s System Integrators or other Hosting Partners.

What you bring

  • Master's degree, preferably in finance, commerce, engineering, information technologies, computer science, MBA or equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of project management methodologies. SAP methodologies (including SAP Activate and SAP Solution Manager)
  • Proactive attitude in managing stakeholder satisfaction to position and secure customer success
  • Demonstrated ability to command the attention and respect of senior level leaders and confidently make presentations to large and executive audiences

Expectations and task of the job:

As TQM, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Understand the customer's solution landscape and business processes
  • Acquire the role of a trusted advisor inside the customer organization
  • Create detailed engagement and service delivery plans and drive their execution
  • Understand SAP premium engagement’s services and methodologies
  • Conceptualize, execute and track projects that are in line with our organizational framework
  • Coordinate involvement of SAP Support resources onsite and in the back office
  • Identify top issues, define action plan accordingly and drive the resolution process
  • Report to management and executive level

Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent
  • SAP Technology/ Basis, Application experience
  • SAP consultant or development experience (SAP Project Manager or Operation manager experience preferred)
  • Excellent customer / escalation management skills
  • Proven ability to work with customers on project- and senior management level
  • Japanese native
  • Fluency in English

As an Application Service Manager you will:

  • Be responsible for ensuring that the services provided to customers meet the highest standards of quality. You will work to create a seamless and efficient customer experience by coordinating various aspects of the engagement. ( Promote service quality excellence and one-stop CAS experience)
  • Continuously look for ways to optimize and improve the services provided to customers. You will proactively identify & engage areas for innovation and adoption of new technologies or methodologies that can enhance the customer experience through SAP solution and/or services. ( Point out proactively optimization, innovation, adoption and potential improvements to customer )
  • Work to create and maintain a success service plan, outlining the resources, activities, and timelines required to deliver the service successfully. You will be responsible to build with the customer their CAS journey, discussing about their contracted application/services, and how to better achieve it. ( Service Plan Creation & Maintenance)
  • Play a key role in driving customer engagement and (upselling) CAS Offerings. They will work proactively to identify opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling, collaborating with other teams to expand the customer's use of SAP's Portfolio & Services. ( Driving CAS engagement as a trailblazer and up-sell SAP’s products and service portfolio)
  • Be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of the CAS engagement, including meeting margin and revenue targets, exceeding customer expectations, and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction. ( Executing the service successfully)
  • Collaborate closely with other SAP stakeholders, including those involved in ECS, MaxAtt and Preffered Success contracts or any active service contract to the customer, to ensure alignment and coordination across all aspects of the customer engagement. (Be aligned with other SAP stakeholders and current contracts)
  • Be the central role in orchestrating communication throughout the entire engagement, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged. (Orchestrate communication end-to-end in the engagement)
  • Oversee & Lead the entire customer lifecycle, including transition, onboarding, stabilization, operations, and offboarding. You will be responsible for managing the budget, ensuring service quality, and driving growth throughout the engagement. (Managing the CAS engagement across the customer lifecycle)
  • Be responsible for creating and maintaining the operations manual to ensure consistency and efficiency in service delivery. ( Operations Manual Creation & Maintenance)

Experience Required

  • Previous experience in Application Management Services (AMS) engagements
  • 8+ years of hands on delivery experience in at least one SAP Solution Area(e.g - S/4 Hana – FI, MM, SuccessFactors, BTP…)
  • Experienced in SAP Implementation Projects / Project Management and/or Managed Services
  • 5+ years of experience in a customer facing role(s)
  • Team motivation, availability to join global team meetings and to actively collaborate on global initiatives
  • Bachelor's degree in IT & Business Management, Engineering or a related field

Customer Success Manager (CSM) Responsibilities:

As a CSM within the SAP Academy for Customer Success, you will be responsible to:

  • Successfully complete a 10-month learning-apply program that enhances your support into the CSM role, a critical customer facing function within our dynamic Customer Success board area.
  • Immerse yourself in a multi-dimensional, experiential learning with a focus on digital transformation, global intelligence, human skills, business and technology acumen, solution/industry knowledge, and strategy/tools/process.
  • Learn how to drive value across the customer lifecycle through solution adoption and ongoing renewals that foster account expansion.
  • Receive onboarding in your local market with on-the-job training and mentoring by a senior CSM professional in the field. You will have the opportunity to work both behind the scenes and directly with customers.

’ll bring

  • 2-3 years’ work experience with a proven record of supporting customers and business transformation, preferably from consulting, sales and/or account management that include resolution and escalation management.
  • Role Specific Skills: customer value proposition, customer success management, technology solution adoption, customer engagement, relationship building.
  • Foundational Skills

There is a high likelihood a portion (4-6 weeks) of the program will be held in San Ramon, California in late Q3 of 2026. This decision will be made in Q1 2026.
