SAP Globalization is working on developing AI agents and tools to streamline the localization of SAP software for different countries. The focus is on leveraging AI in activities such as coding, research, automation, and software design, with the goal of accelerating the delivery of solutions tailored to meet local requirements.

We are looking for a passionate
Development Architectfor our team in Sofia to work on exciting global AI projects. In this role you will:

• Play a crucial role in pioneering the integration of modern AI capabilities, actively shaping the infusion of Generative AI features right from the beginning. This is a rare opportunity to make a significant impact and be part of a groundbreaking journey.
• Streamline and automate the process of monitoring, analyzing, and applying legal changes to enable customer compliance with local regulations in multiple countries and industries. Gain valuable insights into critical Business Processes.
• Work closely with multiple frontrunner teams in AI environment globally.
• Explore and assess new technologies in the field of generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI-augmented development, tools, and infrastructure to evolve existing highly used functionalities and services in the cloud.
• Guide/ lead architecture decisions in your team based on industry standards and best practices, lead adherence to architectural principles, SAP product-specific guidelines, and product standards.
• Lead and own the entire development process, designing and developing robust back-end functionalities and ensuring seamless integration with other SAP products.
• Research and evaluate new technologies and frameworks in the context of AI. With the help of Proof-of-Concept establish the viability.
• Support the team with various software development tasks (design, implementation, testing, operations) focusing on high quality and Agile Software Engineering practices.
• Work in a cross-functional team of talented and motivated colleagues .
• Mentor, encourage, and motivate the team members.

YOUR PROFILE

If you are self-driven and flexible, you are a perfect fit for our team. Further role requirements are:

• Degree in Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent subject
• Solid experience in architecting backend systems, with proficiency in languages such as Python or Java
• Extensive experience with developing and architecting software solutions that run in the Cloud; knowledge of SAP BTP is an advantage
• Strong knowledge in prompt engineering techniques such as retrieval augmented generation or few-shot prompting
• Expertise in designing and implementing agent frameworks such as ReAct
• Experience with MCP or similar technologies would be a plus
• Ability to keep pace with GenAI technology shifts and solve problems creatively within a diverse team with different expertise backgrounds and perspectives.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and database usage
• Extensive experience with common tools for agile project planning and tracking, source code control, and continuous integration (e.g., JIRA, Git, Jenkins)
• Ability to work independently and lead projects, providing technical guidance to development teams
• Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with multiple stakeholders
• Good English language skills (written and verbal)

What you'll build

This role profile of the Industry Advisor (Chief) Expert (f/m/d) for Mill Products & Discrete Manufacturing encompasses the following elements

Lead the Industry to Success

• Guide and lead the development of Industry business plan aligned with Sales leadership in the Market Units and Industry Business Unit
• Provide guidance to Enable/Industrialize Sales, Marketing, Inside Sales and the broader Virtual Account Teams
• Influence and “Industrialize” SAP Partners and oversee engagement

Thought Leadership

• Present at industry and customer conferences
• Lead tought leadership development, practice development project for key line of business buying centers in the Mill Products industries

• Design and implement agentic backends in Java using Spring Boot (3.x) and Spring AI (or equivalent) with function/tool calling and orchestration.
• Build and manage prompt templates, prompt/version control , and data governance.
• Develop and integrate MCP (Model Context Protocol) tools/servers for standardized access to enterprise systems and actions; enforce quotas, auth, and auditability.
• Engineer event-driven microservices on Kubernetes

What you bring

• BE/B-Tech in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong Java (17+) , Spring Boot (3.x) ; designing scalable, event-driven microservices.
• Hands-on AI in Java : Spring AI/LangChain4j, LLM providers (OpenAI/Azure/compatible), embeddings, vector stores, tool/function calling , and agent frameworks.
• Practical prompt engineering and LLM evaluation (offline harnesses, golden sets, A/B, safety).
• Experience with Kubernetes/Kyma , Kafka , and one or more datastores ( Elastic/Mongo/Postgres ).
• Proficiency with REST/OData , caching strategies, performance profiling; Micrometer/OpenTelemetry for metrics/tracing
