Key Responsibilities:

• Support firmwide legal, regulatory and compliance matters related to ADA, accessibility, and EVP laws for both business and legal clients, including:
  • Researching state and federal case law concerning ADA and EVP and the potential impact to JPMC
  • Interpreting ADA- and EVP-related policies and standards, facilitating line of business impact assessments, and guiding responses to regulatory inquiries
  • Collaborating with Government Relations to evaluate and mitigate legal risks from ADA and EVP legislative developments.
  • Assisting in evaluating ADA accommodation requests and formulating effective accessibility-related customer responses
  • Contributing to initiatives that empower elder and vulnerable customers, including Trusted Contact programs, community outreach, and consumer education events.
  • Advising on accessibility considerations linked to customer-facing technologies
  • Drafting contractual provisions related to public-facing digital technology that relate to compliance with the ADA and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

Qualifications:

• JD or educational equivalent, and compliance with all relevant attorney licensing requirements, including requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment
• A minimum of three years of legal or equivalent experience, with significant experience in financial regulatory environments being highly desirable
• Familiarity or experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
  • The ADA and/or related state accessibility laws and regulations
  • Protections for elder and vulnerable individuals against financial exploitation
  • Consumer banking and consumer financial services laws
  • Government or Compliance
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority issues and work effectively with interdisciplinary teams

As a Control Manager within the Legal Oversight & Controls team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and further enhancing the Legal department’s control environment. This position requires expertise in risk and control management, including real-time detection of control issues, escalation processes, root cause analysis, and remediation strategies. You will have the opportunity to both utilize and assess AI and machine learning applications and will also focus on the data risk control environment.Your knowledge of risk management principles, practices, and theories will enable you to promote innovative solutions in a dynamic and evolving risk landscape.

Job Responsibilities:

• Serve as a trusted control advisor to Legal department personnel and management, providing assistance and guidance in adhering to the operational risk framework and implementing controls to effectively mitigate operational risk.
• Provide support for the execution of risk and control assessments, including identification of control breaks and resolutions to minimize financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk.
• Partner with the Legal department’s Chief Data and Analytics office to implement policies/standards and assess controls over the implementation of AI/ML and oversight of data controls
• Partner with process owners to be execute on firmwide programs, e.g. data risk management, privacy, legal obligation mapping to processes and risk, compliance and operational risk assessments,
• Engage with partners in the lines of business that Legal supports and our attorneys, risk, compliance, audit, technology, and control partners to mitigate operational risk.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Five+ years of relevant risk and control assessment experience in financial services, risk management, audit, quality assurance, compliance, or relevant discipline.
• Ability to probe and question in order to understand the operational risk environment within Legal with an eye to designing and implementing controls
• Understanding of data risks (data use, protection, quality, storage and retention), management and controls
• Possess a sense of urgency, intellectual curiosity, flexibility in shifting and competing priorities and deliverables, problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact confidently with various levels of employees and managers throughout Legal and the firm.
• Advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

• Process/workflow evaluation and documentation experience.
• Knowledge of JPMC CORE framework a plus.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Support end-to-end analysis of the business’ risk and control environment to identify significant gaps and weaknesses and determine root cause of control issues
• Partner with your team to ensure controls are properly designed and operating effectively to promote a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies and sound change management protocols
• Assist in control evaluation and testing. Ensure there is an adequate level of detail in evaluation scripts, perform evaluation to determine design and operational effectiveness and properly document results
• Help to manage the full lifecycle of an issue and action plan by capturing details, tracking progress, and closing (after obtaining appropriate evidence to substantiate closure)
• Support overall meeting administration (e.g., Business Control Committees, Business Control Forums), including production and distribution of the materials, quality review of data within the materials, and managing the meeting invite and tracking action items to closure

• 1-3 years’ relevant internship/business experience; financial services industry or background in controls, audit, quality assurance, operational risk management, or compliance preferred
