As our newest team member, you’ll play a role in the development of plans, specifications and estimates for intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic signal design, traffic studies and other traffic engineering work tasks. When you join us, you'll be responsible for the following:

• Perform traffic-related design tasks including traffic signals, lighting, and ITS.

• Develop plans, prepare technical specifications, develop quantities and estimates, complete peer reviews, and compile design documentation

• Coordinate with design discipline leads and assist in cross-functional team management

• Perform traffic analysis, signal timing optimization, and prepare technical reports

• Mentor younger staff, help distribute work, and provide technical guidance

• Promote Jacobs quality control practices through all phases of design and plans production

• Assist project managers in developing project scopes, proposals, and fee estimates

• Contribute to business development efforts by participating in client meetings and proposal preparation

• Lead small to medium-sized projects, managing schedules, budgets, and client communications

• Support project managers in resource allocation and workload management

• Assist in the development and implementation of project execution plans

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the traffic engineering practice

Using your experience, you’ll be responsible for:

• Performing Project and/or project task oversight including setting priorities, hands-on involvement in the design process, as well as project financial management

• Serving as a technical resource for a multi-disciplined team

• Managing engineering projects and design

• Contributing to business development activities including proposal preparation, project interviews/presentations, and client management

• Actively participating in professional societies

Being the Construction Project Leader or Assistant Project Lead on WisDOT projects.

Documenting contractor progress and quantities completed

Performing daily inspections to verify that the Contractor work is being completed in accordance with the contract documents

Preparing daily construction reports that identify the contractor workforce, equipment, and activities, site visitors, and includes daily progress photos

Reviewing contract plans, specifications, submittals and material information

Reporting and documenting any field conditions that deviate from the Contract

Utilizing contract documents to perform general monitoring and documentation of construction activities.
