Your impact

You will be a Seller-Doer-Leader

As an Architectural Practice Lead for Northwest Cities & Places, you will be an important member of our team responsible for helping to define and implement our market strategy with an active role in client and industry relationship development. You will build upon your existing and new client relationships to identify new project opportunities, and you will leverage your architectural skills and buildings design experience to organize multi-discipline teams to deliver innovative planning, consulting, design, and alternative buildings solutions for our clients.

This role requires direct engagement with our clients, necessitating technical expertise related to the project scope, which can include planning/programming studies, feasibility reports, condition assessments, and other services in addition to design for construction for large and/or multiple private and public sector clients.

In this role you will:

  • Help develop and implement our broader Cities & Places market growth strategy through interaction with client organizations; build and lead client service teams, bringing thought leadership to serve new clients, particularly in higher education, life sciences, healthcare, corporate, and hi-tech markets.
  • Assist our Sales Teams in identifying opportunities, developing qualifications packages, and attending interviews, and taking point on leading middle and end game pursuits and proposal development
  • Work with team members to share in the development and growth of our company culture, which promotes autonomy and allows for great opportunities to deliver local projects across the Cities & Places buildings platform while also supporting our mature infrastructure markets (Water, Transportation, Advanced Facilities, Federal, and PM/CM) across the Northwest Geography and West Region.
  • Work closely with our clients and act as the company’s main point of contact on assigned projects and/or clients to ensure expectations are identified and met.
  • Use your technical expertise to lead project teams in the development of design and project documentation by providing overall direction to the team, coordinating with external project stakeholders, internal team members, and subcontractors.
  • Provide effective, skilled project management to help reduce the costs of delivering projects, adding value to the business by applying proven project management techniques. Deliver large complex and/or multiple projects on time, within budget, and per contracted scope. Draft, coordinate, and manage proposals, staffing plans, project delivery budgets / fee documents, progress schedules, and project delivery schedules to meet deliverable milestones and commitments.
  • Provide office environment-based construction phase services, where scope-applicable, including coordinating Jacobs’ responses to RFIs, submittal and shop drawing reviews, construction modification documents, and site visits.
  • Be responsible for the overall quality of the project deliverables in adherence with Jacobs’ rigorous Quality Program. You will manage and enhance project quality by providing ideas and suggestions to the team aimed at improving the effectiveness of their roles, and of project activities in general.
  • Mentor staff and drive professional development to support delivery of the highest level of service to our clients.
  • Have the opportunities to engage with other Jacobs planning and design professionals and project delivery leaders through our internal technical and social communities to help you grow your skill sets, engage with peers and mentors, and gain awareness of our global technology and project delivery platforms.

The Senior Environmental Planner and Project Manager will report to Bellevue, WA but may reside anywhere in the United States. This is a hybrid work environment and most work may be performed remotely; however, travel may be required for specific internal or external meetings or project needs.

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Interface directly with clients, internal team members including subconsultants, regulatory agency staff, and tribal representatives.

• Lead the preparation of documents in compliance with NEPA and/or SEPA.

• Develop and recommend appropriate approaches to complying with NEPA, SEPA, and other environmental laws such as Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 4(f) of the US Department of Transportation Act, the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, Rivers and Harbors Act, Coastal Zone Management Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act, and the Washington Shoreline Management Act.

• Staff and manage interdisciplinary teams.

• Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets and manage project delivery to meet client expectations and Jacobs financial goals.

• Lead or assist with the preparation of competitive bid proposals and participate in presentations.

• Recognize, communicate, and mitigate risks.

• Provide expertise in federal, Washington State, and local regulatory requirements and permitting processes.

As afor our designated Design-Build practice, you’ll have opportunity to provide leadership on a variety of exciting, career-defining infrastructure projects including some of the region’s leading large-scale transportation projects. Our Bellevue-based team is seeking a Lead Storm Drainage Design Engineer to work on Design-Build projects. In this role, you will be joining the premiere Design-Build team in Washington state, working on complex design-build highway and fish passage projects for Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and others. Design-Build projects provide the opportunity to work across a large, multidisciplinary, in-house delivery team and the contractor, allowing you to see your designs constructed shortly after plans are released. This position offers ample opportunity for career growth as you lead our teams and support their development. As a Lead Storm Drainage Design Engineer, you will be responsible for stormwater design and drainage design revisions made throughout the duration of the Design-Build contracts. You will lead our drainage design team and be focused on production of final design plans and calculations that meet WSDOT standards and Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements. You will lead the team in producing the drainage design on highway and fish passage projects. Work may range from preliminary design for a proposal to final construction documents, including writing and assembling stormwater and hydraulic reports. Typical activities may include performing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, providing detailed calculations, and producing construction plans, and drainage reports as well as coordinating with contractors, owners, and other discipline leads. You will also mentor entry- and mid-level staff. In this role, you will have the opportunity to exercise judgment and make recommendations in the development and creation of storm drainage plans for complex, multidisciplinary Design-Build projects.
