Territory: Northern California & Oregon

This role will lead a team of sellers within a specific geographic market and is responsible for achieving revenue and financial objectives for their markets. You will put your day-to-day leadership skills to the test and will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and training new sellers, and supporting those Relationship Managers.

As a Local Market Leader (LML), you will report directly to the Regional Vice President of Regional Sales in Business Cards & Payments and will be responsible for building and leading high performing locally based sellers that deliver against the defined objectives including: recruiting, onboarding, and training of sellers, and day-to-day leadership of the team.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Deliver superior growth and profitability by meeting or exceeding targets in purchase volume, new account acquisition, account penetration, profit, cost, productivity etc. across their region while providing an outstanding customer and associateexperiences.

  • Provide sales leadership and direction, and program management within their team.

  • Build a dynamic sales culture that compliments the broader Field strategy and assist their team in achieving their account acquisition and purchase volumegoals.

  • Participate in the strategic / tactical planning process with the National Sales extended leadership team to drive growth, market share, revenue, cross-sell, sales force growth and productivity, targeted market penetration, customer retention and profit goals.

  • Ensure that all customer and prospect interactions are conducted in accordance with Capital One legal and compliance and regulatory guidelines.

  • Champion effective partnerships with the various headquarters based support teams and local Retail and Small Business banking and Commercial bank relationships throughout their market.

  • Select, orientate, train, coach, develop, motivate and conduct joint work with their team of Relationship Managers.

  • Partner with other LMLs to ensure consistent execution of sales strategies.

  • Champion voice of client and voice of associate feedback to support and inform culture of continuous improvement.

  • Have a deep passion for coaching and developing front line sales professionals as well as yourself.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of outside business-to-business sales experience

  • At least 3 years of sales management experience or at least 3 years of peer coaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing or Business Management

  • 6+ years of outside customer sales experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a sales leadership role

  • 5+ years of portfolio management experience

  • 3+ years of experience partnering with Small Businesses

  • 3+ years of financial industry experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

  • Proficiency in Salesforce.com

Sales Territory: $155,000 - $155,000 for Sr Manager, Local MarketThis role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.

General Responsibilities:

  • Use insight and consultative selling techniques to teach prospective customers how they can leverage payment solutions (purchasing, travel, and electronic account payable) to positively impact their business

  • Learn about local small and mid-sized businesses and their purchasing needs and behavior

  • Analyze the small and mid-sized business’s total business spend to identify additional opportunities to leverage our products and services

  • Build broad and technical product knowledge and an understanding of how client-side processes should work with our products and services

  • Assist the business with incorporating our products into their purchasing platform and bookkeeping software

  • Maintain and update CRM systems regarding sales calls, pipelines and closed sales to ensure data compliance

  • Acquire net new customers by cold call prospecting ; this is not a referral sales model

  • Initiate and participate in educational and/or networking events

  • Establish relationships with “Centers of Influence” in order to engage with the local small and mid-sized business community

  • Drive incremental charge volume on the card with new clients

Competencies:

  • Project and process management, interpersonal influence, networking, project ownership, and workflow management skills

  • Excellent needs-based oral presentation skills

  • Ability to secure appointments directly with clients and new prospects

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, telephone and PC Skills

  • Proven experience hunting for net new business selling in the field

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of sales experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5 years of outside customer sales experience as an individual contributor, driving new acquisition as well as managing a client portfolio

  • 1 year of experience working with small and mid-sized business Customers

  • 1 year of experience in the financial industry

  • Proficiency using Salesforce.com

  • Proficiency using Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
