About the Role

This organization is responsible for serving, ingesting, and indexing data within our feed, storefront, and application carousel experiences. We support multiple data retrieval methods from a high-scale MySQL database. We focus on inventing new and exciting ways to help customers find the products they want within our ever growing catalog which requires understanding the customer needs and building a highly performant backend to support these use cases.

1. Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable and innovative software solutions.
2. Identify opportunities and lead the entire development lifecycle end-to-end, from architecture design and coding to testing and deployment.
3. Conduct thorough code reviews, offering constructive feedback to maintain high code quality and elevate coding standards.
4. Help the team understand what is important and what problems to focus on.
5. Identify solutions to ambiguous problems and help the team reason through tradeoffs.
6. Communicating with internal clients, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, with 5+ years of full-time engineering experience.
2. Experience in hands-on software development with thoughtfulness of scale, latency and distributed architecture.
3. Highly efficient coding in Golang, Java or any similar languages.
4. Solid experience working with relational databases, MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar databases, on high concurrency environments.
5. Working experience with Flink, Spark, and/or Kafka

As a Senior ML Engineer, you’ll translate ambiguous business and security needs into concrete ML problems, design and iterate on solutions, and take them end-to-end into production. This is greenfield work at the intersection of ML, security, and infrastructure, shaping how Uber secures AI at scale.

1. 5+ years experience in formulating ML problems from ambiguous business requirements especially in risk, fraud, or security contexts
2. Proficiency across a broad range of ML algorithms: tree-based models (XGBoost, LightGBM), classical statistical models (logistic regression, SVMs), and deep learning architectures (CNNs, RNNs, Transformers), with the ability to select and apply the right approach based on context and data.
3. Hands-on experience with feature engineering, model development, and productionization of ML pipelines.
4. Proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar ML frameworks, and in Python or comparable languages for scalable, production-grade systems.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Engineer on the PaaS Platform team focusing on Platform Intelligence, you will be at the forefront of this transformation, building the intelligent systems that will define the future of Uber's platform engineering developer experience.

• Build AI-Powered Tooling : Design, build, and operate novel systems that leverage Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to create a world-class developer experience embedded in our existing offerings. This could be features like an AI assistant embedded in our platform UI and GenAI agents that provide instant support in Slack and Stack Overflow, or automatically generating actionable insights from our stakeholders’ interactions with our systems and extending Uber's current automated dev experience tools with intelligent code review and code patching functionalities
