Your future role:

In this role, you will join the Engineering team. You will be working closely together with product and program managers, developers and architects of all SaaS Platforms and be a key contributor in a large organization that is responsible for the engineering and evolution of SAP Sovereign Cloud's product portfolio. You will have the opportunity to solve the complex challenges of scale and security which are unique to SAP Sovereign Cloud, while using your ability in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design. You will engage closely with the SAP Sovereign Cloud Operations, Platform, and Application engineering teams and jointly help to ensure that relevant SAP product development teams can execute against their requirements backlog derived from government security control frameworks.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for defining and implementing the build, deployment and monitoring standards for customers
• Drive the innovations and build tool sets for local cloud delivery and operations team.
• Be part of Agile development teams to deliver an end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management in a cloud environment;
• Create scripts and/or templates to automate and/or bootstrap infrastructure provisioning and management tasks;
• Work closely with SAP Lob and Local cloud delivery and operations team to create an automated continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) system;

• Extensive Cloud Expertise : Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure including services like Azure DevOps, AKS, AVD, Azure Functions, App Services, Virtual Networks, and Storage .
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) : Proficiency in Terraform and ARM templates to automate cloud infrastructure deployment.
• CI/CD Mastery : Expertise in setting up, managing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins , ensuring smooth and automated deployments.
• Kubernetes & Containerization : Strong understanding of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) , Docker , and Helm charts , with experience in orchestrating containerized applications.
• Security & Compliance : Solid grasp of Azure Security best practices, RBAC, IAM, networking security (NSGs, ASGs), and governance policies to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
• Monitoring & Logging : Experience with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, and Prometheus/Grafana for observability and performance monitoring.
• Scripting & Automation : Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, and Python , along with automation frameworks like Ansible .
• Collaboration & Problem-Solving : Ability to work closely with development, security, and operations teams, applying DevOps methodologies to streamline processes and enhance system reliability.
• Performance Optimization : Expertise in tuning cloud applications for cost efficiency, scalability, and high availability , leveraging Azure Autoscaling, Load Balancers, and Traffic Manager .
• Due to the potentially classified nature of our work, you might required to subject yourself to a governmental security clearance process ( )

WORK EXPERIENCE

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Azure Hyperscale/DevOps.
• Over 10 years of experience in DevOps roles, driving automation, scalability, and operational excellence.

Lenght of internship: 6 months

• Studentincomputer science, informatics, business informatics or related areas(current student status is mandatory)

• Strong interest (experience) in Kubernetes
• Interest in surrounding deployment technologies (such as Helm and Kustomize)

• Interest or educational experience in one or more programming languages, preferably Python or Golang

• Strong interest in cloud-native software development and operation

• Good language skills in English

Key Responsibilities

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Student (f/m/d) at a university or a university of applied sciences in Germany
• Preferred fields of study: Software Engineering
• Computer skills: Expertise in backend technologies and Java programming language, Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Language skills: fluent in German and English
• Soft skills: team player, creative mind

Your set of application documents should contain a cover letter, a resume in table form, school leaving certificates, certificate of enrollment, current university transcript of records, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships). You will identify & drive initiatives to increase quality of cloud operations, reduce outages, improve efficiency and collaboration. Beyond RCAs, you will ensure agreed deliverables e.g. improvement action items are delivered in time and reoccurring problem patterns are identified and addressed in projects.

Experience (Role Requirements):

• Solid hands-on understanding of SAP application technology used by ECS esp. the S/4HANA and SAP ABAP platform from a Basis technology perspective (SAP NetWeaver certification highly beneficial)
• Additional Experience in at least one non-NetWeaver technology: BOBJ, SAP Cloud Connector, Convergent Charging, OpenText, HANA XSA, Kubernetes/ SAP Gardener etc.
• Communication with customers on technical, service and operations topics, ability to handle escalated customer cases on management level.
• Cloud and Customer Mindset and previous experience in Cloud Operations or Support organizations for private cloud or public cloud offerings.
• Strong understanding of the processes and working models of SAP Enterprise Cloud Services.
• Very good networking and communication skills towards stakeholders inside and outside SAP, e.g. customers, other ECS teams, Tool Development, Product Development, Product Support etc.
• Very good English language skills
• 8+ years relevant IT experience
