As a Senior Tax Staff, you will be a part of our Global Compliance and Reporting Group (GCR). Our

Your key responsibilities

Your role as a Tax Services Senior will give you the opportunity to combine corporate tax work with structured and virtual learning. You will have the opportunity to combine tax engagements with structured learning. You’ll get experience in tax compliance, tax accrual review, calculating income tax provision and tax planning. Our people focus on the main issues affecting our clients, paying particular attention to the implementation of tax strategies aligned with their business objectives.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts.
  • Discuss moderately complex tax issues with the engagement team and client management.

  • Prepare practical and effective approaches to the client's tax situation and arrive at appropriate conclusions.
  • Share tax planning ideas with others.

  • This role involves interaction with clients operating nationally and globally where fluency in French and English is required. Bilingualism in both French and English is therefore a requirement of this role.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with an emphasis in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Accounting designation or Masters’ degree
  • Experienced Senior- Minimum of 3 years of relevant CDN Corporate tax experience or equivalent experience in business or industry.
  • Broad exposure to corporate income taxation
  • Ability to research and write utilizing electronic tax tools
  • Excellent managerial, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills


Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Leading consultations and research in line with agreed engagement execution plans to support deliverables to our clients;
  • Presentation of the work results to senior team members or clients in a clear and concise manner;
  • Client management and liaison with senior client stakeholders with a view to build strong working relationships with our clients;
  • Managing performance of junior team members through on the job coaching, mentoring and providing constructive and timely performance feedback;
  • Liaison with other EY teams and Service lines, if necessary, to ensure seamless solutions to our clients.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Accountancy qualified (ACCA or equivalent);

  • Deep understanding of IFRS including experience in the implementation of IFRS 9, 15 and 16;
  • Proven ability to work on complex accounting issues and ability to clearly articulate the advice in written technical accounting papers;
  • Experience in leading the planning, execution and reporting on engagements.
  • Previous experience at Senior Manager level is considered an asset.
