The successful candidate will conduct in-depth analyses of complex global client booking models, perform reconciliations, identify operational risks, and ensure compliance with local tax regulations. This position also requires interaction with government tax authorities and external stakeholders, making it essential to have a seasoned professional in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Quarterly reconciliation and preparation as well as monitoring and delivery of Swiss withholding taxes such as Swiss FTT (Form 9), Local withholding and VAT
- Serve as the primary contact for interactions with the Swiss Federal Tax Administration (SFTA) and other local tax authorities. Develop governance and feedback processes to accurately understand and meet stakeholder needs during periodic tax audits.
- Ensure compliance with Non-US tax regulations, prepare account reconciliations for revenues, VAT/GST and other non-US tax accounts for Citi Wealth legal entities. Manage critical tax-related issues impacting clients and business stakeholders, ensuring smooth operations and compliance.
- Establish and maintain long-term relationships with external stakeholders such as Swiss Tax Authorities (SFTA), and local vendors like SIX, EY and others.
- Quickly acquire Citi’s institutional knowledge to understand business segments and legal entities. Provide leadership and tax SME expertise to the Non-US Tax Operations team, present in Poland and India.
- Supporting function in further regulatory tax reporting topics such as, U.S. Qualified Intermediary, U.S. FATCA and Automatic Exchange of Information (CRS Reporting)
- Tax Reclaim Service - 1st level support for inquiries from client advisors and preparing and transmitting of data files to the upstream custodians
- Monitoring and implementing new tax rules, support global Canada GST & Singapore GST tax regime implementation and collaborate in tax strategic programs and technical implementations.
Qualifications:
- A good track record of experience in a tax-related area and good understanding of tax reporting and operational tax processes.
- Proven experience in interacting with government tax authorities and handling complex tax audits.
- Fluency in German and English is required.
- Deep understanding of Swiss tax laws and regulations, particularly VAT and GST. Knowledge of US Tax reporting FATCA, US1099 and CRS regulation is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct detailed analyses of complex tax processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in compliance with Swiss client data privacy laws.
- Proficiency in tax software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Solid project and process management skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional tax qualification preferred.
