As a Researcher Senior, you will be responsible for:

• Grooming and managing the technical risk backlog to ensure all risks have complete and accurate data
• Performing risk analysis to characterize the observed risk, working closely with engineering teams to gather required information
• Driving the characterization of individual risks from start to finish, aiding though research information to help assign a risk score with probability and severity assessments
• Proposing success criteria and developing solutions to remediate, mitigate, or eliminate risks to ensure systems reliability
• Providing deep analysis of technical material including architecture documents and specifications.
• Synthesizing and extracting relevant information from technical documentation including but not limited to architectural designs and specifications
• Researching Akamai and industry best practices and trends to identify and update risk governance standards to help maintain the effectiveness of the risk management program.

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 6 years of industry experience
• Possess experience in a role with operational responsibility for business-critical production system
• Demonstrate familiarity with networking and foundational protocols of the Internet, including TCP, UDP, DNS, TLS/SSL, HTTP
• Possess Linux OS and/or Jira Confluence experience
• Possess working experience with the implementation and/or operation of distributed systems and/or cloud computing
• Be eager to know how and why things work, and how to improve them
• Be able to apply system thinking and identify the key factors without needing all the low-level details
