Job Description
The Farm Service Technician Swine is an important role within the GB Swine, working alongside swine producers to ensure that our products are administered or used correctly and bring value to the farm operations. As such, the role is field-based and you will be travelling regularly throughout England, Wales and Scotland, depending on the needs of our customers. You will work closely with our farm customer base, aligned their Veterinarian to help deliver on the our Animal Health promise of best in market support and service. You will be working as part of a close-knit team, alongside our Key Account Managers, Customer Success Manager, Veterinary Technical Manager and Product Manager, to reach our full market potential as leader in preventative health and our developing technology portfolio.
Duties, responsibilities, activities
- Support, advise, and train farmers on essential technical tasks related to animal health and productivity, ensuring the correct administration of products and use of devices and technology. This may include Including on farm training, audits of important preventative health activities, advice and problem solving.
- Collaborate with the key account management and veterinary technical teams to address customer requests for on-farm support, ensuring alignment with our customer segmentation approach.
- Maintain excellent communication with customers and colleagues to evidence value and presence of the our Animal Health service and brand, including delivering accurate & timely reports of farm visits and service provision. Support Key Account Manager in ensuring that veterinary clients are up to date with on-farm activities.
- Reactively support customers should they require practical support on farm at short notice and work with colleagues to proactively identify opportunities to deliver on-farm support and training for new and existing users.
- Always ensuring appropriate biosecurity.
- Develop and deliver specialized training activities for farmers under the guidance of the technical team
- Bringing new ideas based upon in field experience and feedback to evolve our service offer.
- Liaising with local service centre for on-time movement and delivery of devices to customers throughout the UK.
- Inputting and maintenance of service platforms and programs. Ensuring full traceability of our devices and up to date locations and movements.
- Independently solving a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
- Maintaining solid product and industry knowledge and expertise.
- Update our CRM (customer relationship management) system in a timely and thorough manner.
Education & Experience, Competencies
- On farm practical experience of Swine production systems, farm environment and pig health.
- Genuine interest in progressive livestock farming and related business activities
- Experience in training, teaching or support of knowledge building in a farm or classroom environment. (Preferred but not essential)
- Ability to work comfortably with data using Excel and similar tools
- Unquestionable ethics and integrity and strong respect for biosecurity
- Customer centric mindset
- Highly self-motivated with a positive and proactive approach to work
- Ability to work independently and under time pressure.
- Ability to adapt and evolve within a rapidly changing market environment
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and in a matrix environment, fostering collaborative relationships
- Well-organised with high personal standards and proficient administration and IT skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences
- Adept at clear and persuasive communication in face-to-face interactions, phone, and email, both with customers and colleagues
- Full UK driving license
