Minimum Qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate degree or international equivalent.

• 8+ years of relevant experience as counsel at a law firm or in-house.

• Active bar license to practice law in the state or jurisdiction where the employee will be practicing (or ability to obtain upon hiring).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Technical or Engineering field.

  • 9+ years of relevant experience practicing law at a law firm, in-house, or in government including at least 4 years of law firm patent litigation experience and at least 3 years of experience interacting with U.S. and international patent offices.

  • Experience relating to the licensing of standard essential patents and FRAND issues.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in intellectual property laws.

  • Experience relating to intellectual property laws, patent office operations, Patent Trial and Appeal Board operations, European, Chinese, and/or Indian patent laws and revocation proceedings, including interfacing with decision makers at such institutions.

  • Experience with cellular communications, multimedia technologies, semiconductors, software, and/or related technologies.

  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive and problem-solving mindset, while managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Strong work ethic and dedication, proactive engagement on issues, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and ability to think and act strategically and tactically, while demonstrating sound business judgment.

  • High ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assess the impact of IP policies and regulations on our business and industry, and provide timely and relevant updates and recommendations.

  • Develop and implement strategies to advocate for our IP interests and positions in various forums, such as government agencies, industry associations, standard-setting organizations, and trade negotiations.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders and policymakers, and represent our company in IP-related discussions and events.

  • Supporting the company’s efforts relating to patent licensing policy and advocacy, particularly regarding FRAND licensing practices for standard essential patents.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with our legal, business, engineering, and Global Affairs teams on IP matters, and ensure alignment and consistency across regions and functions.

  • Provide expert counsel to our internal teams on IP issues and best practices, such as patent portfolio management, IP risk assessment, IP licensing, and IP litigation.

Pay range:

$179,000.00 - $269,000.00
