Job Summary:
The Assurance Manager is responsible for leading and managing assurance engagements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering high-quality services to clients. This role involves overseeing audit teams, managing client relationships, and providing strategic insights to enhance business performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Assessment:
- Identify and assess risks associated with client operations and financial reporting.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Audit Planning and Execution:
- Develop and execute audit plans, ensuring that audits are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Lead and manage assurance engagements from planning to completion.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor audit staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional development.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages innovation and excellence.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients during engagements.
- Quality Control:
- Review work papers and financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
- Implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards of service-delivery.
- Reporting:
- Prepare and present reports to clients and stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
- Ensure timely delivery of reports and adherence to deadlines.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in assurance services.
- Contribute to the development of new service offerings and methodologies.
- Training and Development:
- Mentor and train junior staff, fostering their professional development and growth within the organization.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Business Development:
- Assist in identifying opportunities for new business and participate in proposal development.
- Contribute to the growth of the assurance practice by promoting services to existing and potential clients.
- Managing Book of Business:
- Ensure that for the assigned portfolio, the fees are discussed in advance, billings are done on a timely basis, and that collections are prompt.
- Ensure that engagement pricing plans are drafted appropriately and that margins are met as per the approved plan for the engagement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, and/or Master’s degree
- Professional certification in accounting e.g., CPA, ACCA.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in audit and assurance services, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, auditing standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
