Based in The Villages, FL, you’ll have the opportunity to operate heavy equipment and machinery on an assigned shift. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. You’ll operate equipment such as 18-wheel tractor trailer rigs, loaders, backhoes, spreaders, soil injectors, farm machinery, pumping equipment, sewer rodders, hydro-jet cleaners, TV monitoring and line grouting equipment; load, unload, haul and apply sewage sludge, scum, grit and screening according to approved procedures; haul and spread sand, gravel, dirt, dig and refill ditches and trenches; inspect and maintain free flowing conditions, adjust manholes, lay sewer lines, patch streets and sidewalks; erect and repair fences. You’ll also inspect and maintain equipment, vehicles, tools, and pumps; maintain records and logs of work activities; and perform other duties as required.
Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.
- CDL
- Two years’ experience in the operation and preventive maintenance of vehicles
- Possess state required equipment operator license
- A valid driver’s license with no major infractions
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
- Two years’ experience in the operation and preventive maintenance of vehicles, heavy equipment, farm machinery, pumps and sewer line maintenance equipment
- Knowledge of general operation and maintenance of vehicles, engines, pumps, valves, motors, farm machinery, and related equipment used in and around water and wastewater systems
- Familiarity with hand and power tools and equipment commonly used in the maintenance and servicing of vehicles, equipment, and sewers
- Safe work practices
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
