In this role, you will anticipate future challenges and identify business problems that affect our customer experience. You will tackle unique, unsolved problems at unprecedented scale, creating solutions that bridge scientific research and business needs to enhance the customer experience. You will also lead the writing of influential internal and external publications that demonstrate originality and inspire new research directions in both internal and external scientific communities.

* PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.
* 15+ years of experience in building machine learning models applied to the world of recommendations.
* A track record of world-class influential publication in related disciplines.
* Demonstrated expertise in both theory and practice in personalization and recommendation experiences.
* Hands-on experience with a broad range of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
* Ability to lead scientific strategy and provide expert guidance for the organization’s most intricate projects and uncharted problems with authoritative scientific expertise.
* Experience in multi-tasking and taking input from various teams and sources to scope user research work with effective prioritization.
* Ability to work with science, product and engineering teams.
* Ability to distill complex issues into clear, actionable insights; navigate competing priorities to make informed, strategic trade-offs.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience effectively advising senior management and executives.

* Exceptional ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including large technical audiences, senior management, and customers.
* Exceptional relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet timelines with optimal solutions.
* Track record of developing intellectual property.
* Consistent history of highly-cited publications pioneering innovation in personalization, recommendation and related disciplines.
* Demonstrated history of influencing standards bodies.
* Experience in steering and chairing top-tier academic program committees.
* Recognition as a leading influential researcher in your field.
