We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Azure Compute Capacity Optimization Team (ACCOT). In this role, you will contribute to the development of scalable capacity management services and efficiency solutions. You will work on foundational components of the Azure Control Plane, including the Azure Allocator and the Holmes service, which manage workload migration across Azure data centers. You will also engage with central capacity management systems such as Compute Capacity Central (CCC), collaborating with partner teams to track and manage capacity usage, maintain buffers, and deliver telemetry insights. Your work will help ensure workloads are allocated and migrated efficiently within and across data centers.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• 4+ years software engineering experience with C#, Java, and/or C++
• 4+ years software engineering experience in multi-threaded, asynchronous, and/or systems programming, and object-oriented design fundamentals.
• 1+ year(s) of experience with cloud-scale applications and live services

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer ScienceOR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,OR Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• Experience leading teams/projects that maintain live services.

• Design and develop distributed cloud software services that are engineered for scale, availability, high performance, and high reliability.
