Financial Services Risk Management – Senior Associate, Johannesburg South Africa

The work we do isn’t about providing ‘off-the shelf’ solutions; so, we will train and coach you to develop a set of core consulting skills that will be transferable across a broad range of projects. You’ll work as part of high-performing teams on a broad range of financial services clients and assignments that will stretch and challenge you. You’ll be encouraged and expected to take accountability and make an impact.

Your key responsibilities

The scope of the work that you can expect to be involved in will include supporting our clients across a range of risk-related topics, such as FinCrime, Governance, Regulatory Compliance and Conduct Risk. This also includes the ability to assess policies and procedures in order to identify gaps to regulatory requirements and provide remediation plans or recommendations. You can expect to be working on client assignments across the industries we serve - banking, insurance, and wealth and asset management. You'll actively establish internal and external relationships and identify and escalate potential business opportunities for Ernst & Young within existing engagements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualifications: A degree in risk management, finance or legal
  • Professional qualification (CAMS/FRM/PRM/CIA) an advantage
  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience. Preferably in a risk/compliance management role within financial services or in a consulting capacity with a focus on regulatory advisory
  • Previous experience of exposure to regulatory requirements across pan-African jurisdictions would be an advantage
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Experience with the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, Exchange Control Regulations, Collective Investment Schemes Act, Financial Markets Act, Pension Fund Act and related regulations an advantage
