What to Expect
As Vehicle System Engineering Intern, you will be part of a specialist team that is mainly responsible for the dimensional quality of the vehicle. To achieve our build objectives, we connect aspects of design and manufacturing across all shops, stamping, casting, injection molding, body in white, paint and general assembly from the early design phase until the serial production is running.
You will work on design & manufacturing feasibility studies, design, build and try assembly fixture prototypes and jigs. You will learn the fundamentals of tolerance management, how GD&Ts are developed, how setting processes are designed, and fixture & gauge concepts established. During the ramp up of projects, the team is also deeply involved in trouble shooting dimensional design and manufacturing issues with Tesla teams and external suppliers.
You will learn what it takes to design and manufacture a vehicle that achieves an excellent dimensional quality with challenging manufacturing processes. You will be treated as a full member of the team, applying your engineering experience and skills.
