Description
- Responsibilities and activities for this position include the following:- Serve as Apple’s in-region thermal expert by using a detailed understanding of the system-level and module-level thermal design, validation requirements. Experience in passive device thermal design is preferred.- Guide and implement thermal testing at OEM and suppliers factories; Complete data reduction/analysis and prepare test reports.- Take the leading role in suggesting or adopting ideas for improving efficiency and quality of thermal components.- Provide in-region expertise for root cause and corrective action of system thermal failures and defective thermal parts/materials.- Train engineers at OEM/vendor factories to produce high quality products using well-defined specifications, advanced production processes and update-to-date validation tools and codes.
Minimum Qualifications
- - Bachelor or master in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- - Experience in desktop or portable Thermal design and validation work.
- - Experience with thermal testing and test equipment (DAQ, Wind tunnel, IR Camera, Power Supplies, RF, etc.).
- - Excellent written and oral cross-communication skills between design, OEM and third party vendor teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- - System-level thermal systems design strategies.
- - Heatpipe and vapor chamber manufacturing processes and metrologies.
- - Thermal analysis using a CFD tool.
- - Coding skill (Perl, Python, etc.).
- - Effective in variety of communication settings, such as small and large groups, or among diverse styles and position levels.
- - Advocate data driven decision making, and willing to experiment in the face of the unknown to resolve right approach.
- - Domestic or international travel may required.
