Here are the three most important aspects of the role

  • Data Management and Engineering : Senior Consultants/Data Engineers are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and architectures. This involves working with large datasets, ensuring data quality, and implementing data governance practices to support analytics and business intelligence initiatives.
  • Analytical Skills and Problem Solving : This role requires strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights. Senior Consultants/Data Engineers must be adept at using various data analysis tools and data modelling techniques to solve business problems and support decision-making processes.
  • Teaming, Collaboration and Communication : Effective teaming, communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, business analysts, EY leadership and client stakeholders will be crucial. Senior Consultants/Data Engineers must be able to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences and work collaboratively to achieve project goals.

To be successful in this role you will need to have significant experience within the following areas:

  • Solid experience in data engineering, with a strong background in data architecture, data modelling, and data management, building and scaling robust data systems for complex business domains.
  • Define, implement and manage the data platform architecture to align with organisational goals and industry best practices within a Managed Service.
  • Architect scalable Data pipelines and solutions for Informatica, including cloud-native and hybrid environments.
  • Consult on complex, multi-disciplinary projects, acting as a subject matter expert (SME) to solve complex client issues related to Informatica
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to clients on how to best utilize Informatica and related data platform technologies to achieve their organisational objectives.
  • Expertise in Python, with a deep understanding and hands-on experience in Informatica for designing, optimizing, and scaling large-scale data processing pipelines, and proficiency in at least one SQL dialect.
  • Experience with Snowflake and data lake technologies (e.g., Databricks, Delta Lake), data storage formats (Parquet, Avro), query engines (such as Photon, Spark SQL), and both real-time streaming and batch processing, or equivalent technologies and frameworks.

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Experience and working knowledge of streaming platforms, typically based around Kafka.
  • A good understanding of Azure, Google Cloud and AWS data platform services and their strengths/weaknesses.
  • Hands on experience in implementing data pipelines for data ingestion and transformation to support analytics and ML pipelines
  • Strong experience communicating asynchronously using collaboration tools like ADO, Jira, Slack, etc.
  • Experience using automation and CI/CD tooling like Git, GitHub,Docker,Jenkins, Terraform, etc.
  • Experience developing standards for database design and implementation of various strategic data architecture initiatives around data quality, data management policies/standards, data governance, privacy and metadata management
  • Working experience integrating with BI frameworks like Power BI, Qlik, ThoughtSpot, Looker, Tableau, etc.
