As a Senior PostgreSQL DBA in our Global Shares Database Management team, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical Databases hosted on PostgreSQL. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will have full ownership of PostgreSQL infrastructure and manage PostgreSQL databases through multiple product life cycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.

Job responsibilities

• Take full ownership of PostgreSQL infrastructure.
• Manage PostgreSQL databases through multiple product life cycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
• Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
• Test backups to ensure we can meet the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
• Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
• Support cloud based systems and integrations.
• Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
• Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities occasionally after hours.
• Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on system design concepts and proficient advanced experience​ with PostgreSQL Administration
• Experience of PostgreSQL running on Azure including VM and PAAS - Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
• Experience of Designing and Implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery for PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and/or free community tools.
• Experience working with a Devops approach e.g. Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery.
