Types of work you will be doing:
- Advising EY’s audit teams on actuarial and accounting matters related to complex pension arrangements and other post-employment benefits - OPEB
- Assisting the team in due diligence reviews in mergers and acquisitions transactions on defined benefit plans and broader people-related topics
- Participating in a broad range of consulting actuarial, pension and benefit engagements, including pension and benefit cost management, governance, policy, risk, and operational aspects; and
- Working with EY colleagues in Canada and across the globe to deliver One EY solutions
Your key responsibilities
As a staff, you will join our actuarial team and participate in client engagements and opportunities for pension and or benefits actuarial services. You will work on technical aspects of actuarial engagements while ensuring client needs are met. You will apply project management skills as well as technical and professional knowledge to ensure that the engagement work products are of the highest quality.
Your day-to-day role
- Supporting actuarial engagements relating to actuarial audit support, mergers and acquisitions, pension valuation and other pension advisory services
- Supporting compensation engagements as needed, including conducting research and analysis on compensation, total rewards, talent retention and attraction
- Participating in the overall and day-to-day technical and business aspects of client projects to ensure high quality engagement work products, solutions, and deliverables for clients
- Identifying, developing and implementing initiatives to improve engagement productivity, increase efficiencies, mitigate risks, and address issues for clients
- Contributing to the attainment of group and individual goals by sharing knowledge, identifying business and or productivity opportunities and facilitating teamwork
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Up to 2 years of pension actuarial experience
- Actively pursuing the ACIA or ASA credential
- Previous pension, OPEB accounting and or valuation experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong project management skills within a professional environment
- Business level proficiency in English and French. This role regularly communicates with internal and external stakeholders across Canada and therefore requires fluency in both languages.
