As a Senior Manager, you will set new standards for engineering and delivery management across our organization, improve execution to reduce time to market, and increase quality. You will develop a highly skilled tech team by hiring high quality employees, setting clear career goals and providing coaching and mentorship both in your team and across our larger organization. You will lead the team in SW delivery, tech innovation, architecture of large scale systems, and operational excellence. The products & services built by your team will be used by Operations stakeholders & Alexa partner teams across the globe. You will also ensure right outcomes, not just process execution.We are looking for a senior tech leader who can solve business problems at scale using technology. A visionary leader, builder and executor who can hire and grow people, motivate teams and deliver an amazing customer experience for our customer base (Alexa customers, Alexa partner teams, and Operations testers). Someone who can take complex business problems and solve them with simple and innovative solutions that can scale for Alexa volume. You’ll have experience leading or contributing to multiple simultaneous development efforts. You’ll be able to balance technical leadership with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices. You will also be skilled at creating a diverse team that will be successful without you needing to support them on daily basis. You will have excellent stakeholder management skills to get your partners onboard with your tech strategy & vision. 1. Creating a culture of technical and business excellence, innovation, strong execution and delivery.
2. Establishing effective SW delivery, quality and operational standards, and inspiring the organization to continuously learn and improve in all aspects
3. Own short to long term planning, project and program definition, management and E2E delivery.
4. Knowing when to delegate and when to dive deep. Do periodic reviews of design, delivery and operations to drive excellence throughout our organization.
5. Decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions that demonstrate significant creativity and high judgment. Teach others to do the same.7. Work closely with other Alexa organizations to deliver features that grow the business while improving the platform and driving down costs.
8. Represent business and technical metrics to executive leadership on a weekly basis.

As a Sr. Software Development Manager on the Alexa Smart Home team, you will lead the development of highly-visible products and services for the smart home. Your work will span developing GUI experiences, voice user interfaces and cloud services. You will help lay the foundation to move from directed device interactions to learned behaviors that span multiple devices throughout the home. And, you will have the satisfaction of working on a product your friends and family can relate to, and want to use every day.
You will drive project execution, recruit, hire, and develop the industry’s top engineering talent. We’re looking for candidates that have acted as a technical leader and built high-performance, scalable and robust systems in a complex, multi-tiered, distributed environment.

- 12+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
