Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with AI, Machine Learning, Compilers or Algorithms.
  • 2+ years programming in C++ and Python.
  • 2+ years' experience developing AI algorithms, systems and applications.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • PhD in AI, Machine Learning, Compilers or Algorithms.
  • Experience with CUDA or Triton.
  • Experience with AI inference stacks.

Responsibilities
  • Apply large language models (LLMs) to generate, optimize, and refactor compute kernels for performance and portability across a wide range of hardware platforms.
  • Leverage cutting-edge techniques—including reinforcement learning with human and automated feedback (RLHF, RLAF), test-time scaling, and agentic workflows—to produce high-performance kernels.
  • Explore opportunities to replace traditional compiler algorithms with AI-driven approaches that improve performance, maintainability, and adaptability.
  • Develop and implement intelligent strategies for kernel fusion that reduce memory bandwidth demands and enhance runtime efficiency.
  • Partner with compiler architects, machine learning researchers, and systems engineers to embed AI capabilities into the compiler toolchain.
  • Stay at the forefront of AI and compiler advancements by rapidly prototyping and evaluating new ideas in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
