As an Associate in the UK Natural Resources team, you will be a key player in the origination and execution of investment banking mandates across all major product areas. You will participate in the "full cycle" of transactional execution including preparing marketing pitches, reviewing and formulating financial analysis, preparing and presenting internal committee memoranda and client presentations. Working with global sector teams and projects, you will be provided opportunities to be involved real-time in transactions.You will play a pivotal role in implementing the execution function including working with fellow junior bankers as well as assisting more senior bankers. You will develop strong skills in the major areas of investment banking and will be given the opportunity to develop into a senior officer who is capable of generating and executing his/her own transactions.



Job responsibilities

  • Participate in substantial day-to-day client contact and client servicing
  • Begin to build long-term external relationships and manage client accounts
  • Prepare marketing materials for M&A, ECM and DCM related transactions
  • Execute end-to-end client transactions
  • Interact with senior deal team members and client management teams on a daily basis to execute transactions
  • Define, guide and review detailed valuation analyses, including DCF, trading comparables, transaction comparables and LBO analyses; and any other detailed combination and other financial analyses in the context of M&A transactions or pitch situations
  • Coordinate with other teams including leveraged finance, debt capital markets, equity capital markets, ratings and credit
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to analysts
  • Work with J.P. Morgan product teams
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, able to multi-task and manage project independently

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Prior experience in Investment Banking or transactions, with Energy, Power & Utilities, Renewables and Mining experience preferred
  • Exceptional financial modelling/valuation and analytical skills
  • Highly organized, detail oriented and proactive, energetic and decisive, with high level of integrity
  • Excellent technology skills with superior Excel and PowerPoint skills and ability to quickly learn new software applications
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and defend their validity
  • Ability to comfortably interact with clients and colleagues in a professional and mature manner
