Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivatedAssociate Principal Scientist (Associate Director Level) in Stromal Immunologyto be based at the Francis Crick Institute, London.
In this role, you will identify unmet medical needs, evaluate and apply novel experimental approaches and impact basic research and translational medicine.
Working collaboratively with our discovery teams at the Francis Crick Institute and the London Bioscience Innovation Centre you will apply cutting edge lab technologies and Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning tools todentify drug discovery targets for potential medicines that couldandof how our potential new therapies and medicines work at a cellular and molecular level in the patients we serve.
What you will do:
- Leading from the bench, you will design and execute your own experiments and supervise the experiments of others to identify and validate novel targets in immunology/ inflammation/autoimmunity
- Apply knowledge of key signal transduction pathways to design appropriate experiments
- Integrate in vitro and in vivo approaches to drive program strategy
- Conceptualize and enact innovative approaches (including novel technologies) to solve program objectives and issues
- Develop and manage project-specific milestones and timelines
- Collaborate effectively both internally & externally, within and across functional areas
- Communicate science and strategy to stakeholders and management
- Provide support, coaching, mentorship and assistance to other team members
- Demonstrates a “one-team” mindset by proactively engaging in and leadership of lab and department initiatives
- Amplifies cultural initiatives & DE&I principles within the department and site, promotes psychological safety and supports a work environment that positively influences others and enables all to bring their true selves to work
Required Experience:
- PhD, MSc. or BSc. in Biological Sciences with significant practical experiencein performing and analysing complex multicellular systems in the pharmaceutical industry
- Strong knowledge of immunology and cell biology
- Ability to interpret and analyse data from key biological, biochemical and immunological assays systems and design appropriate follow up experiments
- Experience leading projects to completion
