What You’ll Do:

  • Through collaboration work to establish the lensing style, cinematic staging and camera language as directed by the Head of Cinematography, Layout and/or the Previs Lead, which is in alignment with the Director’s vision for the film?

  • Create 3d shots and sequences based on script pages, storyboards and/or Supervisor/Director briefs.

  • Set dress environments and locations for Layout and Animation where possible, referring to Art Dept supplied designs.

  • Create rigged assets and rough animated elements to guide framing and story.

  • Light and render required sequences.

  • Compile previs sequences to sound, to help visualise the story.

  • Clearly understand the creative requirements of a sequence and deliver these creative goals in a timely manner and to the highest standard.

  • Where possible, provide technical setups of shots to downstream departments.

  • Mentor and support colleagues.

  • Collaborate with grace, humility, inclusion, and open-mindedness

What You’ll Need:

  • 5+ years' experience in Previs and/or Layout on Animated Feature Film projects.

  • Demonstrable skills in taking 2d storyboards into 3d filmmaking.

  • Examples of visual storytelling, displaying composition, staging, and shot rhythm.

  • Knowledge of the traditional principles of real world cameras, lenses, editing, and film language.

  • Strong knowledge of Blender and Maya software

  • Good understanding of basic character animation principles - the ability to create character animation that helps support the shot/scene would be an advantage.

  • An understanding of editing and the ability to composite scenes together and integrate sound.

  • A can do attitude and the ability to multi-task, prioritise and problem solve

  • Ability to work solo as well and collaboratively within a team environment focused on developing the story through cinematography.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to efficiently organise, prioritise work to meet deadlines and exceed quality expectations.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and e-social communication skills

This role is based out of Sydney, Australia. Hybrid Role (Minimum of 3 days a week in the office).
