In this role, you won’t just be supporting automation projects; you’ll be at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge solutions that enhance our operations and support critical capital projects. Collaborating closely with Automation and IT teams, as well as our valued vendors and partners, you’ll ensure that our automation systems are delivered on time and within budget.
What you will do:
Bring energy, knowledge, innovation and leadership to carry out the following:
- Lead Automation Projects:As our Automation Engineer, you’ll coordinate with other resources and partners to deliver exceptional automation systems that meet our site’s future needs.
- Support Operations:Provide day-to-day operational support by diagnosing faults and managing remediation activities—keeping our systems running smoothly.
- Enhance Department Activities:Engage in vital tasks such as user access management, preventive maintenance, and periodic reviews of PLC systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop Essential Documentation:Create SDLC deliverables that comply with our company’s high standards, including requirements specifications, functional and design specifications, test scripts, and more.
- Collaborate with Vendors:Work hand-in-hand with automation equipment vendors to ensure all project deliverables meet stringent requirements.
- Ensure Quality & Compliance:Partner with Quality Assurance and Computer System Validation teams to meet regulatory demands and uphold our commitment to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- Manage PLC Technologies:Implement, update, and support various PLC technologies and infrastructure across the site, including Siemens and Rockwell PLCs, as well as Building Management and Utilities Management Systems.
What skills you will need:
In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Automation Process Control, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
- In-depth technical knowledge of DCS, PLC, BMS, SCADA systems, and data historian/reporting systems.
- Proven experience in Computer System Validation and control system integration.
- Familiarity with facility commissioning and startup activities within a GMP environment.
- Strong project execution and contractor/vendor management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving ability complemented by outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- A solid understanding of pharmaceutical drug substance and drug product production.
