You will bring deep expertise in training and shipping modern personalized search and recommendation models to production. You will bring knowledge of SOTA techniques in search, recommendations and LLMs to improve the quality and scalability of M365 Copilot.  You will partner closely with engineering and product teams to innovate, design and evaluate end-to-end AI solutions that serve millions of enterprise users. This is a high-impact role where you will influence technical strategy, shape product direction, and collaborate across Microsoft to deliver AI-powered experiences that help users accomplish more with less effort.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
  
  • OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    
  • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research).
    
  • OR equivalent experience.
    
• People management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Statistics, or related areas. Candidates with master’s degree with industry experience or publication record in the areas of Information Retrieval, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing are considered as well.
• Experience managing research or engineering teams in Machine Learning, Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, Recommendation Systems or related fields.
  
• Professional experience developing ML models for scaled production services, with a proven track record of successfully shipping applied research to production
  
• Solid people leadership skills to influence others, with the ability to understand team dynamics, retain, attract, and develop team members. Grounded in growth mindset, and advocate for diversity and inclusion.
  

• Inspire, lead and manage an innovative applied science team working at the intersection of Gen AI, Search and RecSys , specifically training, optimizing and shipping of best-in-class personalized search and recommendation models.
• Support hiring, coaching, mentoring and career development of Applied Scientists and Software Engineers to build inclusive and ambitious applied science focused teams.
• Collaborate closely with Microsoft Research, AI platform teams, and product teams to create the next generation of AI innovation in our products and services.
• Support and develop a thriving applied science culture within the MSAI organization that encourages experimentation, scientific process, and innovation.
• Communicate internally and externally through publication, presentations, and other mediums (e.g., blogs, press interviews) on research progress, major breakthroughs, and product innovation.
