Provide technical expertise on industrial control interfaces and communication protocols for the implementation of new features in Tesla’s commercial and utility storage offering
Advise, scope and support development of monitoring and control interfaces for utility and commercial/industrial battery projects
Collect input from a diverse group of stakeholders (customer, sales, service, firmware, hardware, etc.) and distill into clear requirement for software and firmware development teams
Drive internal validation and field pilots for newly developed features
Work closely with software development teams to resolve any issues that arise during implementation
Develop tools to facilitate scaling of Tesla’s commercial and utility energy storage deployments
Develop internal and external technical documentation to educate customers and adjacent teams about newly deployed functionalities
Create tools and trainings that empower Tesla technical support and service teams to troubleshoot issues related to subject matter expertise
Support assessment of new applications relating to subject matter expertise that arise in the sales process
What You’ll Bring
Energy industry experience with generation monitoring and control
Expertise with SCADA communication protocols and computer interfaces: e.g. Modbus, DNP3, local historian integration
Degree in an Engineering discipline and 3-5 years of relevant work experience or equivalent experience
Demonstrated application of analysis, design, and testing to solve complex engineering problems
Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals – mechanical, electrical, and thermal is expected
Knowledge of at least one relevant programming language: Rust, Golang, Python, etc.
Technical and hands on experience with battery storage systems and PV inverters
