As a Data Scientist at IBM, you will help transform our clients’ data into tangible business value by analyzing information, communicating outcomes and collaborating on product development. – Translate business requirements into “high-level” design solutions including mapping documents and SQL
– Participate in regular standups and prioritization sessions
– Create test cases and prototypes; perform tests in development, test and production
– Analyze and validate data from sources
Knowledge of mainframe concepts would be a plus:
– mainframe hardware: CECs, Engines, MIPS, Memory, LPARs, features, orders
– mainframe software: licenses, value metrics, aggregation, MSUs, Value Units
– mainframe revenue: hardware, software, brands/divisions, majors/minors, unbundling
– familiarity with advanced concepts is a plus: leasing, maintenance, storage, royalties, sub-capacity, on-demand offerings
Background
– Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or similar
– Required experience with DB2 or another relational database system
– Required experience with data warehousing
– Required expert-level SQL skills
– Knowledge of relational database theory and database design
– Experience synthesizing business requirements into technical designs
– Familiarity with the DevOps approach to software dev/test/deploy/maintain
– Familiarity with the Agile approach to software development
– Experience working in a mainframe development environment is a plus
