Clinical Scientist MR - Fixed Term ( 2,5 years )
Job DescriptionAn exciting opportunity awaits you: 0.5FTE based at a cutting-edge magnetic resonance (MR) research facility in Lund, Sweden, and 0.5FTE supporting Clinical Science activity across the Nordic countries. You will be working as part of a team of Philips clinical scientists based throughout Europe.
You are responsible for
Local customer support
- Management of research collaborations with Philips at the Lund University Bioimaging Centre (LBIC) which is an infrastructure within the Medical Faculty at Lund University: identifying and supporting projects of mutual value to customers and Philips; liaising when necessary with legal teams for research agreement administration; providing scientific leadership in MR with an emphasis on 7T (but also 3T and 1.5T applications as part of the wider Philips Clinical Science team in Europe); managing customer expectations; harvesting knowledge to benefit Philips; liaising between local sites and international luminary networks.
- Doing the same at other Nordics sites
- Interacting with Clinical Scientists, academics and clinical staff to provide first-line support for research related questions on customer sites, and signpost within Philips for further queries.
- Contributing to academic papers by actively participating in customer research projects on site. You will be involved in projects ranging from MR methods development to neuroscience studies and clinical research.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and represent their perspectives within Philips.
Local Philips organisation support
- Maintaining knowledge of roadmap and research developments, both within and external to Philips in order to support the Sales process, and assist with technical demonstrations and customer visits.
- Assisting in delivery of clinical training programs. E.g.: support of Applications training; technical presentation for User Group meetings; vendor portfolio presentation at scientific meetings.
- Assisting in local trouble shooting – liaising with Engineering/Applications.
- Communicating to wider Philips Precision Diagnosis team members the value that Philips MR Clinical Science working with customers brings to the business.
Your competencies
- Be able to run Philips’ MR scanners independently, performing scans.
- Capacity to program for research applications: pulse sequences, image reconstruction, post-processing analysis.
- Maintaining in-depth knowledge of Philips MR technology through in-person attendance to Philips internal Clinical Science meetings, and other interactions with scientists within Philips.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of innovations in MR, through conference attendance (e.g. ISMRM) and discussion with key research leaders.
Your worldwide Clinical Science impact
- Transferring knowledge about customer clinical needs and conclusions of customer research to Philips, ensuring impact for Philips by motivating appropriate action.
- Providing clinical/technical feedback to the MR Business Unit in Best, NL.
- Offering strategic leadership in areas of expertise to the MR Business Unit product development and clinical science teams.
- Representing Philips at conferences and professional bodies, and establishing a global network of contacts in the scientific MR community.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills / experience / qualities
- Degree in Physics, Biomedical Engineering or similar
- PhD in magnetic resonance or related topic
- Minimum three years of experience working in MR
- Programming experience is preferable
- Curious and passionate about Magnetic Resonance
- Interested in working in the medical environment
- Available to travel nationally and abroad
- Enthusiasm to work in a team
- Fluent in English, spoken and written; Swedish and Finnish is a plus
