to join our dynamic team. In this position, you will provide technical leadership and guidance to our environmental planning and permitting teams. Your role involves supporting environmental components of the design, construction, and operations of infrastructure projects in western Canada, interfacing with clients, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, conducting environmental due diligence, and strategic planning. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment while working on critical infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support environmental planning and permitting throughout the lifecycle of a project, working with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Stay current with relevant regulations and ensure project activities align with environmental standards.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify potential environmental impacts and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Support and oversee the preparation of permit inputs, regulatory filings, and environmental management plans.
  • Coordinate and provide technical writing support for projects.
  • Coordinate discipline-specific environmental field studies.
  • Coordinate and provide technical support for environmental alignment sheets.
  • Support engagement efforts with Indigenous communities, stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with members of the public, government and non-government communities, associations, tenure holders and Indigenous communities.
  • In a collaborative manner, develop and expand our client portfolio, including support for Business Development and proposal efforts.
  • Develop staff through on-the-job mentorship.
  • Be a Safety Leader for the project and promote Jacobs Beyond Zero and our culture of caring.
Here's what you'll need
  • Degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, Biology/Ecology, or a related field.
  • 10 years or more of relevant experience in the natural resources sector in Canada, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Experience navigating provincial and federal environmental permitting, legislation, and regulatory requirements, primarily in western Canada.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills and high attention to detail to provide high quality deliverables.
  • Time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects and meet project deadlines.
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal and willingness to be client facing to grow our planning and permitting services.
  • High level of initiative and problem solving and adaptability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding and consideration for safety.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Experience or knowledge of Indigenous cultural values
  • Experience seeing major projects from planning through construction.
  • Financial literacy and understanding of managing budgets and schedules.
  • The ability to inspire, mentor, motivate, and build respect among colleagues, fostering a cohesive work environment.
