We are looking for Lead Transmission Lines/Substation Engineer. The primary role would require you to undertake technical and non-technical activities in the planning, design, and construction of overhead Transmission Lines & Substation. You will support project delivery and business growth in the Transmission Lines & Substation practice area. Manages Transmission Line & Substation project deliverables, scope and schedule within a multi-discipline design project. You will support Jacobs’ virtual teaming strategy including work-sharing and mobility across the business, follow Jacobs’ quality assurance and technical review procedures. The Senior Engineer – Transmission Lines & Substation will also be responsible for design work, providing estimates for Transmission Line & Substation project components and coordinating inputs from other disciplines.
- Prepare design criteria and methodology documents for the team before starting a project.
- Undertake design activities associated with the planning, design, and construction of overhead Transmission Lines.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams on the design of overhead Transmission Lines.
- To support project delivery and business growth in the Transmission Lines practice area.
- Actively mentor and develop fellow team members to grow the Jacobs offering in Transmission Line Engineering.
- Offering technical direction to engineers locally and in our Global Delivery Centres to enable the delivery of design packages.
- Supporting the technical reviews of deliverables, attend and participate in project and client meetings.
- Participating in regional engagement of APAC Transmission Line team.
- Significant overhead transmission line design for a variety of interesting projects in Renewable energy, Power, Utility and Infrastructure clients throughout ANZ / APAC.
- Strong understanding of PLS CADD, TOWER and POLE to perform design and review work.
- Familiar with AS/NZS, Client SDMs, ASCE, IEEE and IEC codes and guidelines.
- Tertiary Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and at least 20 years’ experience in overhead transmission line engineering.
- Has an in-depth expertise in own job discipline and broad knowledge of other job disciplines within the Power industry.
- Advanced user of PLS CADD, TOWER and POLE (or at a minimum has a strong understanding of the PLS software packages).
- Delivers projects, or aspects of, on or under budget.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Strong technically with ability to convey this verbally and in written reports.
- Provides technical leadership.
- Ability to assist in development of engineering service proposals and fee estimates.
