Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and architect scalable and efficient solutions for ingestion, storage, and consumption of drug development data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and access policies to ensure seamless data flow.
• Guide and direct the design of conceptual, logical, and implementation of physical data models to support data analysis and business intelligence.
• Ability to roll-up sleeves and dig into code to troubleshoot issues, provide root cause study and implement preventive measures to mitigate issues going forward.
• Lead and mentor team of data engineers. Lead by example and provide technical expertise and guidance.
• Engage with technical leads across different teams to identify and leverage synergies.
• Stay current with new emerging technologies and conduct POCs to assess and evangelize their adoption.
• Education Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum of BS (or equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, IT, or an equivalent scientific/commercial discipline.

Required Experience and Skills:

• Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in designing solutions utilizing data platforms, preferably in data engineering.
• Extensive hands-on experience developing data systems in cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modeling (3NF and dimensional)
• Experience with database technologies (e.g., SQL, DataBricks, RedShift, NoSQL), ETL and data integration tools (dbt, AWS Glue)
• Hands-on experience with DevOps technologies such GitHub, Git CI/CD and/or Jenkins and automation of deployment.
• Great interpersonal and communication skills; adept at working with colleagues from diverse disciplines and at all levels of the company, articulating complex technical topics at the right level of detail for specific audiences.
• Proven experience in team building, mentoring, and leadership with a demonstrated ability to inspire others to follow a common vision.
• Proven ability to execute consistently, rapidly, and effectively.
• Organizational skills, with the ability to navigate a complex matrix environment and efficiently prioritize work.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience developing reference architecture, principles and standards, and best practices.
• Familiarity with data science algorithms, such as advanced statistical methods, Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing (NLP) modeling, and model evaluation, is a plus.
• Knowledge of business processes and industry/market trends within the pharmaceutical/healthcare space.
• Track record of successfully completing multi-stakeholder projects that require cross-functional coordination between departments.
